What the portrait preset changes

The crop converts a mixed source library into a consistent 3:4 frame, then encodes the result as JPEG. This is lossy, so keep the original master and inspect packaging text after export.

Use Image Compress when you only need to reduce bytes without adopting this crop.

Keep one master and create channel-specific copies

Do not repeatedly resize a previously exported marketplace image. Keep the highest-quality original, then derive each delivery copy from that master.

For a portrait crop, check clearance above tall packaging, below shoes or furniture legs, and around any label that must remain readable. A crop that looks balanced in the large editor can feel cramped as a small catalog tile. Use the preview to compare the full frame with the chosen crop before processing.

Inspect the downloaded JPEG rather than relying only on the editor preview. Look for stair-stepped diagonal edges, halos around white products, softened Cyrillic text, colour shifts, and clipped shadows. If the result is visibly damaged, return to the original master and make one new export with a less aggressive quality setting.

Use a filename that preserves the SKU and view, such as front, side, or detail, before the file reaches the seller workflow. Consistent names prevent the correct portrait crop from being attached to the wrong variation. The tool changes pixels but does not validate catalog IDs, product claims, backgrounds, or marketplace policy.

The 10 MB indicator is a VeloTools workflow target. It is useful for spotting an unexpectedly heavy export, but it is not proof that Ozon will accept the image. Check format, dimensions, subject rules, and any category-specific instructions in the current seller interface.

Portrait composition varies by product shape. Bottles and tall cartons need headroom around caps; shoes need space below the sole; apparel needs enough frame to preserve the silhouette; furniture may need a wider source crop before it can survive a 3:4 cut. Review those edges per SKU instead of copying one crop position across the batch.

When the product is pale against a light background, inspect the downloaded file on both white and neutral gray. That quick check reveals clipped highlights and disappearing edges that are easy to miss in a dark editor. If the outline vanishes, correct the source lighting or background separation before another export.
